Former U.S. Democratic President Joe Biden on Monday congratulated President Donald Trump for securing the release of live hostages and a new ceasefire in Gaza.
“I am deeply grateful and relieved that this day has arrived: for the last 20 living hostages who have been through unimaginable hell and are finally reunited with their families and loved ones, and for the civilians in Gaza who have suffered immeasurable losses and will finally have a chance to rebuild their lives,” Biden wrote in a post on X.

The former president congratulated President Trump and his team “for their work to achieve the renewal of the ceasefire agreement.”
“Now, with the backing of the United States and the world, the Middle East is moving toward a peace that I hope will endure and a future for Israelis and Palestinians alike with equal conditions of peace, dignity and security,” Biden concluded.
Today, the leaders of the mediating countries between Israel and Hamas – the United States, Egypt, Qatar and Turkey – signed an agreement in Egypt that stipulates an end to two years of war in the Gaza Strip as the chief mediators in the conflict since Hamas attacks against Israel in October 2023.
Trump dodges recognition of a Palestinian state
Is it just me, but I couldn’t take my eyes off of Trump’s broken umbrella. He was the only one on the tarmac with an umbrella, first of all. But, it was broken! I, personally, think this is a comm, because who would give Trump a broken umbrella. In my opinion, that would… pic.twitter.com/PymNxETHDN

President Donald Trump refused Monday to directly address whether he supports recognition of a Palestinian state after he and several world leaders signed a Gaza cease-fire agreement during a summit in Egypt and attended a meeting on the future and reconstruction of Gaza.
“I’m not talking about one state or two states or two states; we’re talking about rebuilding Gaza,” Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One during his flight back to Washington from the Middle East.
In this regard, the president said that “many people” like the one-state solution, while others like two-state solutions.
“We’ll have to see. I haven’t commented on it,” he added.
However, last month, during a speech to the United Nations General Assembly, the U.S. president referred to the push for a two-state solution as a “reward” for Hamas.
The White House released Monday the statement signed by the mediating countries between Israel and Hamas – the United States, Egypt, Qatar and Turkey – on the Gaza Strip peace agreement, in which the four nations pledge to implement the pact to ensure stability in the region for both Palestinians and Israelis.
