Texan singer Bobby Pulido made public his decision to formally enter U.S. politics.
After years in music, Pulido announced that he will seek a seat in the House of Representatives for Texas’ 15th District, with the intention of running as a Democratic candidate against Republican Monica De La Cruz.
From the stage to the ballot box

Bobby Pulido’s transition to the political arena did not come as a complete surprise: in November 2024 he had already announced a farewell tour and his willingness to get involved in partisan politics.
In a statement shared on his social networks, Pulido explained:
Music gave me a platform to share our stories, to represent our people with pride, and to bring our culture wherever I go. Now it's time to serve South Texas in a different way

Also, when talking about his roots, the singer said he is from Edinburg and is “the grandson of hard-working people who taught me to never give up. I am also the father of four children who deserve every opportunity for a brighter future,” according to an interview published by Rolling Stone.
Objectives and strategy in District 15

Bobby Pulido enters the political arena with a moderate approach, seeking to connect with both Democrats and independents in a district that has shown signs of moving toward the Republican party.
He himself acknowledged that the 15th District is conservative, but is confident that a message focused on issues affecting the community can resonate.
In his campaign, he highlights three main pillars: immigration, health and economy.
On immigration issues, Pulido opposes both an overly lax border policy and an aggressive deportation strategy that separates families.
Regarding the health system, he confessed that he himself does not have insurance and stated that it is urgent to put people before the interests of the pharmaceutical industry.
Visible challenges in the race

The electoral landscape is not simple for Bobby Pulido.
District 15 was recently redrawn, which has favored the Republican party.
In addition, Monica de la Cruz was elected as representative in 2022 after a swing in the district, suggesting that the race will be close.
Although Pulido has already toured several counties in the district and filed his candidacy, he still must face Democratic primaries and prove that his transition from music star to political leader has substance and support among local voters.
