Singer Bruce Springsteen made a surprise appearance Friday in Minneapolis at a concert protesting the Trump Administration’s immigration policies that have fatally resulted in the shooting deaths of two U.S. citizens this January by federal agents.
Springsteen performed for the first time in public his protest song‘Streets of Minneapolis’, composed in response to the deaths of Renée Good and Alex Pretti and as a tribute to the citizens of Minnesota for their resistance to anti-immigrant raids.
The concert, whose benefits are destined for the families of Good and Pretti, was held as part of a massive protest call this Friday against immigration agents, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Border Patrol agents deployed in the state of Minnesota.
It is the second Friday in January in which citizens take to the streets in massive numbers to protest, despite the freezing temperatures that the United States is experiencing.

Organizers had called for a day of work stoppage involving no work, no school and no shopping, as a continuation of the general strike that had been called last Friday in Minnesota, a day before Pretti’s death.
In Minneapolis, marches and rallies were held throughout the day, including a large rally and protests near the city’s detention center and immigration courts.
Following the uproar over the fatal shooting of Pretti, U.S. President Donald Trump has sought to appease his management of the operations with a change of ownership by removing Border Patrol head Greg Bovino and sending in his place Tom Homan, the White House border ‘Czar’, who now heads the deployment in Minneapolis.
Also in question is the performance of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, who pointed to “domestic terrorism” in Pretti’s case before the images of her being shot were made public, and whom congressional Democrats intend to impeach.
The Justice Department on Friday opened an investigation into Pretti’s shooting death for civil rights violations, reported Agencia EFE.
