Mexican soccer club Chivas de Guadalajara announced Thursday that they have terminated their relationship with Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez, who played with the team for the last four league tournaments.
“Club Deportivo Guadalajara informs that Javier Hernández concludes his second stage as a player of Chivas,” the board of directors of the Guadalajara team informed on their social networks, in which they assured that the link between the player and the club of his love will last forever.

Chicharito Hernandez is one of the leading Mexican soccer players of this century.
After training in Guadalajara, he emigrated to Europe to wear the shirt of Manchester United in the Premier League, where he shone until signing with Real Madrid in 2014.
After a brief spell with the Merengue club, Chicharito had good performances with German club Bayer Leverkusen from 2015 to 2017, English club West Ham United, Spanish club Sevilla and MLS side Los Angeles Galaxy.
Top scorer with the Mexican national team with 52 goals, Chicharito played in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, Brazil 2014 and Russia 2018, but was then left out of the national team, to which he did not return.
The missed penalty that marked his goodbye

A couple of years ago, Guadalajara signed him but the striker showed a low level, partly as a consequence of injuries.
In the quarterfinals of the Apertura 2025 tournament, Chicharito was responsible for the team’s elimination, missing a penalty kick in the final stages of the series against Cruz Azul.
The mistake sparked criticism and mockery in the media and social networks, as well as calls to the fans to have a good memory and be grateful for the great feats of the striker with the Mexican national team and in Europe, where he put the name of the country on a high level.
Still standing and looking for a new destination

Although at 37 years old Chicharito Hernandez is far from his best sporting form, he has no plans to retire.
According to Mexican media, he could continue his career in the MLS or in a Liga Mx team.
Guadalajara thanked ‘Chicharito’ for his dedication and for having contributed his knowledge to youngsters such as striker Armando González, the Apertura’s leading scorer.
“Javier, we wish you the best of success in the route you will take from here on out,” said Chivas.
