Cincinnati of Major League Soccer(MLS) defeated Tigres UANL of Mexican soccer 3-0 on Thursday in the first leg of the round of 16 of the CONCACAF Champions Cup.

The game’s goals came from Kévin Denkey, a brace, and Tom Borlow. Cincinnati suffocated Tigres from the start against their own area.

The strategy worked.

In the sixth minute, Tigres’ Argentine goalkeeper, Nahuel Guzmán, made a hasty exit.

He gave the ball to Venezuelan Ender Echenique, who broke down the right and set up Kévin Denkey, who shot unmarked to make it 1-0.

In the second half, the felines pushed forward, something that the MLS team took advantage of in the 53rd minute to make it 2-0 on a counterattack from the right.

Denkey set up Tom Borlow, who controlled, cut inside the box and beat Nahuel with his shot.

Faced with Tigres’ lack of control, Cincinnati made it 3-0 in the 83rd minute with another counterattack in this CONCACAF Champions Cup match.

Valenzuela passed through the center to Kévin Denkey, who had no trouble shooting and saved Guzmán.

In the second leg, Tigres will host Cincinnati next Thursday.
