The program ‘El gordo y la flaca‘. addressed this Tuesday a controversy that has shaken the Latin entertainment world. Dominican host and actress Clarissa Molina decided to take legal action against her former partner in the show, Sophinel Baezfollowing statements she considers defamatory.
The controversy arose after Baez, who was first runner-up in the Miss Dominican Republic Miss Dominican Republic 2015gave an interview in the Dominican Republic in which she insinuated that the pageant was marked by irregularities. According to her statements, there were rumors before the gala about who the winner would be.
Baez also assured that Molina had held private meetings with a businessman and allegedly accepted an “improper proposal”, which -according to her version- would have influenced the final result of the contest. He also mentioned former Miss Universe Dayanara Torres as part of the jury, affirming that she would have told him that she was the “real winner”, but that she was not allowed to vote. These statements were later denied by Torres herself.

With Clarissa present in the studio, it was Lili Estefan who shared the details during the broadcast. The host explained that, in view of what she considers false and defamatory public accusations, Molina hired a law firm in Santo Domingo to initiate legal proceedings against Baez.
“Clarissa has rejected these accusations and has taken legal action,” Estefan expressed, stressing that the mentioned events occurred 11 years ago and that the recent statements revived a situation that the presenter considers unfair.
Likewise, Lili clarified that Molina could not go deeper into the subject because the case is already in the hands of her lawyers, and thanked her for allowing her to inform the public about what is happening so far.
