The Indianapolis Colts, Baltimore Ravens and Kansas City Chiefs must win their Week 15 NFL games to keep their playoff hopes alive.
The Colts hit the emergency button last Tuesday to bring 44-year-old veteran quarterback Philip Rivers out of retirement in the face of injuries to Daniel Jones, Anthony Richardson and rookie Riley Leonard, their three pass-catchers on the roster.

With Jones and Richardson out for the season, if Leonard does not recover from a posterior cruciate ligament injury, Rivers will have to put his Hall of Fame aspirations on hold to take over and try to lead Indianapolis to victory as they visit the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, who are vying for the top spot in the National Football Conference (NFC) West division.
A loss for the Colts, third in the American Football Conference (AFC) South, would push them out of the playoffs.
Indianapolis’ situation is similar to that of the Ravens, second in the AFC North with a 6-7 record, who will travel to the home of the Cincinnati Bengals.
Lamar Jackson must lead his team to victory and hope for a Steelers loss to go into the final week of the season with a chance to climb back to the top of their division, the only way in the North to make the playoffs.
The Chiefs’ situation is more pressing, because in addition to being forced to beat the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday, they need a combination of results to avoid being out of the postseason for the first time since 2014.
Among the 14 games scheduled for Sunday, the clash between the New England Patriots, who are fighting for first place in the AFC, and the Buffalo Bills, who are clinging to stay in playoff positions, also stand out.
The visit of the Green Bay Packers, leaders of the NFC North, to the Denver Broncos, number one in the National League, and the duel of the Los Angeles Rams, the best in the NFC against the Detroit Lions, who only need to win to keep their chances alive.
Week 15 kicks off on Thursday when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers defend the NFC South lead against the Atlanta Falcons and concludes on Monday with a game between the Pittsburgh Steelers, who can’t afford to lose to hold the AFC North lead, and the Miami Dolphins, who are all but eliminated.
