U.S. President Donald Trump has called NATO member countries “cowards” for not collaborating to open the Strait of Hormuz in the midst of the U.S. war in Iran.
“They don’t want to help open the Strait of Hormuz; a simple military maneuver that is the only reason for those high oil prices. Something so easy for them to do, and with so little risk. Beware, and we will REMEMBER!” the president wrote on his social network Truth Social on Friday.

Trump considered that the Atlantic Alliance countries “did not want to join the fight to stop a nuclear-capable Iran. Now that that battle has been WON militarily, with very little danger to them, they are complaining about the high oil prices they are forced to pay,” he added.
“Without the United States, NATO is a PAPER TIGER!” he asserted.
This week, the American criticized NATO and Australia, Japan or South Korea after they rejected his request to create a military coalition to secure navigation on the route through which around 20% of the global maritime trade in hydrocarbons passes, by replying that this is not a war they initiated.
Trump stated that the Atlantic Alliance nations informed him that they “do not wish to get involved” in the war launched by the U.S. alongside Israel, “despite the fact that almost all countries strongly agree on our actions and that they believe that Iran cannot be allowed to possess nuclear weapons.”
During a meeting with Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin, he said Tuesday that NATO is making “a very foolish mistake” by not heeding his call and questioned the bloc’s loyalty to Washington.
In a series of messages on Truth Social, Trump said how “the most powerful country in the world” does not need “anyone’s help” because the US has succeeded in “decimating the Iranian Army.”
