Argentine coach Nicolás Larcamón’s Cruz Azul achieved its first win in the Mexican Clausura tournament on Wednesday with a 2-0 victory over Atlas.
Uruguay’s Gabriel Fernández and Argentina’s José Paradela scored for the Azules. Cruz Azul was superior in the first half over an Atlas team that showed difficulties in defense.

In the 8th minute, Fernandez made it 1-0 with a left-footed shot.
Paradela added to the lead in the 28th minute when he took a free kick under the watchful eye of Colombian goalkeeper Camilo Vargas.
Goalkeeper Vargas appeared on time to stop shots by Fernandez, in the 59th minute.
Rodolfo Rotondi, in the 61st minute, after which neither of them created any danger in the opponent’s goal.
Cruz Azul has three points from two games, the same record as Atlas.
The second date of the tournament, which began on Tuesday, continued on Wednesday with matches between Querétaro and Tijuana, América and San Luis, Tigres and Pumas, and Toluca and Santos Laguna.
