The Puerto Rican Soccer Federation(FPF) announced Monday that it signed an inter-institutional cooperation agreement with reggaeton artist Daddy Yankee -now DY- and the company Multinational to continue developing the sport in Puerto Rico.

The agreement will be in effect for the 2025, 2026, 2027 and 2028 seasons, FPF president Iván Rivera said in a statement.

The agreement seeks to generate a real impact through joint activities, direct support to national teams and the promotion of shared values between the Federation, the business sector and the sports community, explained Rivera.

Daddy Yankee and FPF bet on soccer

“This agreement reflects a shared vision: to promote the growth of Puerto Rican soccer from the grassroots to our senior national teams, with the support of companies and figures who believe in the transformative power of the sport,” said the federation leader.

He also indicated that the incorporation of Daddy Yankee and Multinational in this initiative symbolizes a unique synergy that combines business strength with cultural and sports projection, opening new opportunities for Puerto Rican soccer at the local and international level.

Agreement with DY will promote Puerto Rican soccer

With this agreement, the FPF reaffirms its commitment to the integral development of soccer in Puerto Rico, strengthening its structure and expanding the possibilities of growth for athletes, clubs and national teams, the sports organization said.

In addition, Daddy Yankee, Multinational and the FPF, both before, during and after the match between the men’s national teams of Puerto Rico and the world champion Argentina on October 13 in Chicago (Illinois, USA), will kick off various joint activities included in this agreement, according to information from EFE.

“Jesus lives in me”

It should be recalled that in December 2023, during his last tour at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico, Daddy Yankee announced that he had found faith in Christ.

He decided to formally retire from secular music to dedicate himself to his spiritual life. In his own words: “Jesus lives in me”.
