The death certificates of Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Reiner, have been released by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health and officially confirm that both died as victims of homicide. The documents, obtained by TMZ, detail that the deaths were caused by multiple stab wounds inflicted by another person, which definitively rules out any natural or accidental cause.
Although this information had already been advanced by the authorities since the early days of the investigation, the release of the certificates provides formal confirmation within the legal and administrative process that follows a violent death in the state of California.
What death certificates reveal
The Reiner death certificates have been released… am I the only one picking up on the fact they listed Michele’s marital status as ‘widowed’ while Rob’s was listed as “married,” indicating the coroner believes he was killed before she was? #RobReiner #Reiner pic.twitter.com/SGmgYvSvUX

According to official documents, both Rob and Michele Reiner died from “multiple stab wounds”.
Both certificates specify that the wounds were caused “with a knife, by another person”, and the manner of death was classified as homicide.
The certificates also state that the couple’s remains were cremated at Mount Sinai Mortuary, a funeral home located in Southern California.
This type of information is part of the public record and is key to closing legal, funeral and administrative procedures after death.
The discovery of the bodies in Brentwood
Rob and Michele Reiner were found dead on December 14 at their residence in Brentwood, a neighborhood in West Los Angeles.
The discovery was made by his daughter, Romy Reiner, who immediately notified the authorities.
According to information previously released by the police, Romy reported that her brother, Nick Reiner, lived in the same house with her parents and expressed concern about her behavior.
According to official reports, he described him as a “dangerous” person, which led authorities to consider him a suspect from the early stages of the investigation.

After initial inquiries, Nick Reiner was arrested and formally charged with the murder of his parents.
Authorities have confirmed that he is facing murder charges and that the case is already in the judicial process.
According to the information available so far, it has been indicated that the defendant could plead insanity, which would involve court-ordered psychiatric evaluations to determine whether he is mentally competent to stand trial.
This procedure does not mean an automatic exoneration, but a legal stage in which the defendant’s ability to understand the charges and participate in his or her defense is analyzed.
Death certificates not only record the cause of death, but officially establish whether a death was considered a homicide, suicide or accident, which has legal implications in criminal investigations, court proceedings, insurance, inheritance and other legal procedures.
Although the certificates provide no new details about the motive for the crime, their release definitively confirms that Rob and Michele Reiner died violently and that the case is proceeding through the California court system.
So far, the authorities have not released any further information on the progress of the process or on a possible hearing date, while the investigation remains open.
