Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) took a firm step towards the Champions League 2025 final after beating Arsenal 1-0 at the Emirates Stadium, thanks to an early goal by Ousmane Dembélé. Just four minutes in, the Frenchman struck powerfully after a great team move initiated by Nuno Mendes and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

With this goal, Dembélé has now scored 21 goals this season, confirming his status as one of the French champions’ main attacking references. However, his participation in the second leg is in doubt, as he left the field with physical discomfort.

Although PSG began dominating, Arsenal soon reacted and put Luis Enrique’s team in trouble.

The Londoners laid siege to the Parisian penalty area for several periods of the match, but they came up against a wall: Gianluigi Donnarumma.

The Italian goalkeeper made crucial saves, most notably a one-on-one save against Gabriel Martinelli in the first half.

Also, another spectacular save from a Trossard shot in the second half.

His performance was key to PSG holding on to their slim lead and beating Arsenal.

In the duel between Spanish coaches, Luis Enrique played a pragmatic game, prioritizing defensive solidity after taking the lead.

His strategy dismantled Arsenal’s inside game, limiting the likes of Martin Ødegaard and Declan Rice.

For his part, Mikel Arteta opted for intensity after the break.

However, their variations failed to break PSG’s defensive structure.

Even in the final minutes, PSG could have extended the lead against Arsenal after Bradley Barcola’s shot grazed the post.

Can they make a comeback?

Arsenal will have to beat PSG in the second leg, scheduled for next week at the Parc des Princes.

If they want to advance to the final in Istanbul.

A draw or a Parisian victory would guarantee them a place in the “Orejona”.

The London team will have to find offensive solutions and improve their efficiency in front of goal, aspects that cost them dearly in the first leg.
