Donald Trump surprises by receiving the first FIFA Peace Prize

Growing doubts over the award’s consistency

U.S. President Donald Trump was awarded the first FIFA Peace Prize on Friday for his “extraordinary action” in trying to achieve peace in places like Gaza, Southeast Asia, Africa and Ukraine, soccer’s top body said.

“The world is a safer place now. A year ago, the United States was not going through a good time, and now I have to say that we are the most thriving country in the world and we are going to remain so”. Donald Trump stated with conviction after receiving the award during the event prior to the draw for the 2026 World Cup, which his country is co-hosting with Mexico and Canada.
