On the night of December 1, 2025, Dua Lipa offered her first concert in Mexico City as part of the Radical Optimist Tour, and did so with a moment that was marked for those who attended the GNP Seguros Stadium: a musical “kiss” turned into a tribute. Thousands of people gathered to see her live in the first of her three dates in the capital, and the British singer reciprocated with a show full of energy, closeness with the audience and a gesture that has become a custom in this tour.

As she has been doing in different countries, Dua Lipa respected her tradition of performing on stage a cover of an artist or a song representative of the place she visits. Mexico was no exception, although on this occasion she chose a song that belongs to the cultural heart of the country and whose author is widely recognized: “Bésame mucho”, composed by Mexican Consuelo Velázquez.

The singer explained to the audience why she chose that song and also highlighted the value of the author to whom she wanted to pay tribute. Before performing it, she shared a message in which she highlighted the story told around its composition and the emotional connection it has with people around the world: “Today I want to honor a great Mexican composer: Consuelito Velázquez. This song is very close to the hearts of so many people around the world. I love it because the story goes that she hadn’t even been kissed when she wrote it… and I believe that we composers write our dreams. That’s why this song. If you know it, sing it with me.

The song, although it has been interpreted by artists such as Luis Miguel, has clear historical antecedents: its first version dates back to 1941 with Emilio Tuero, according to what is mentioned in the text itself. Thus, the cover not only worked as an emotional moment within the show, but also as a reminder of the scope of a Mexican composition that crossed borders decades ago.

In addition to the cover, Dua Lipa took advantage of pauses between songs to openly express her affection for the country and the Mexican public. In a direct and grateful message, she stated that being in Mexico City was an ideal closing for this stage of her tour: “Being here tonight is the icing on the cake, and it’s the only way I wanted to close this tour. Thank you very, very much for making me feel so at home. I feel a very, very deep connection with this country and its beautiful people, I will always come back”.

After the tribute, the concert continued with a repertoire full of his best-known songs and choreographies executed with precision, combining dance and vocal power. Among the songs performed were “New Rules”, “Levitating”, “Houdini” and “One Kiss”, which kept the stadium on fire.

In closing, Dua Lipa reinforced the emotional tone of the night by acknowledging that this concert was something she had been looking forward to for some time: “I’ve been dreaming about tonight since I started the tour and what it was going to feel like to be back here. I feel so grateful. I can’t stop thinking about all the incredible moments I’ve experienced here… Thank you for your love and support.”

With that closing, Dua Lipa’s first show in CDMX was defined by a mixture of spectacle, gratitude and a musical tribute that, for the audience, felt like a collective “kiss” that will be hard to forget.
