Dueling styles at the Grammy Awards

The risky transparencies of Chappell Roan and Karol G, along with Lady Gaga’s stunning feather dress, contrasted with the sobriety of Billie Eilish and Sabrina Carpenter’s classic silhouette adorned with rhinestones on the red carpet of the Grammy Awards, held tonight in Los Angeles.

The parade prior to the awards ceremony was also marked by messages of protest against the activity of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Artists such as Billie Eilish, Justin Bieber or his wife, Hailey Bieber, wore a pin with the slogan ‘ICE Out’.

Chappell Roan, a two-time Grammy nominee, starred in one of the most daring outfits of the night in an earth-toned Mugler dress that left her torso bare, with the fabric clinging to her nipple piercings.

Karol G opted for a sheer lace dress by Paolo Sebastian in blue, topped with a mermaid train, while Teyana Taylor, actress of ‘One Battle After Another’, chose a Tom Ford design in brown tones with metallic details.

Singer Sabrina Carpenter was one of the big stars of the red carpet with a dress of rhinestones and ruffles classic cut, a Valentino couture design created especially for her.

“They’re very quiet this year, Chappell really started a movement,” Carpenter noted during the red carpet.

The singer referred in this way to a disagreement Roan had with a photographer a year ago, in which the singer rebuked a photographer for shouting at her on a red carpet.

Laufey wore a Miu Miu design with a fitted silhouette in lilac rhinestones, while Doechii chose a Roberto Cavalli in purple and earth tones, with a long tail of volumes achieved through gathers.

Feathers as protagonists

Feathers were one of the big stars of the night.

Lady Gaga made a stunning appearance in a black design by Canadian duo Matières Fécales.

Kesha did it in a white feathered Atelier Biser dress with marked volumes; and Korean Rei Ami wore a striking feathered dress with a matching headdress.

Rei Ami is one of the singers who voice ‘KPop Demon Hunters’ and took home an award for ‘Golden’ tonight.

Her partners Audrey Nuna and Ejae opted for designs by Thom Browne and Dior, respectively.

Singer Olivia Dean, one of the evening’s winners, chose a black and white Chanel dress with a puffed skirt in light tones and a black sequined bodice topped with feathers.

Also in a classic key, the South Korean-New Zealander Rosé (Roseanne Park) opted for a black strapless dress with a voluminous pink skirt, signed by Giambattista Valli.

Velvet for them

Many of the male attendees at the 2026 Grammy ceremony reinvented the traditional black tuxedo by opting for velvet.

Bad Bunny, one of the big stars of the evening, wore a black velvet Schiaparelli design with a white carnation on the lapel.

Pharrell Williams wore a powder pink velvet suit, while Benson Boone chose a black Armani tuxedo, also in velvet, combined with a transparent shirt.

The most extravagant note was set by Jon Batiste, with a military-inspired bullfighter jacket, studded with sequins and rhinestones; or the singer Sombr, with a suit jacket with metallic sparkles in gray tones signed by Valentino and lace shirt.

Among the most androgynous proposals were Billie Eilish with a look by Hodakova, inspired by men’s tailoring, or Miley Cyrus, with a Celine design, consisting of a leather jacket and pants.

Alaïa was the brand of choice for Addison Rae, in a sculptural white dress and Haylei Bieber, sheathed in a black strapless dress from the brand.
