Puerto Rican merenguero Elvis Crespo announced this Monday that a special version of his acclaimed album ‘Poeta Herío’ will be available on Friday, titled ‘Poeta Herío: Colmadito Special Edition’ with unreleased collaborations such as ‘Limón’ with Los Pleneros de la Cresta and ‘Me voy a ir’ with Jerry Bazúa.

“Poeta Herío first arrived at a colmado in Higüey, Dominican Republic, and captivated the audience. Now, we follow the same formula: colmados and bodegas linked to the launch, with a Reloaded that includes five new songs and renewed cover art, maintaining the spirit of the project,” Crespo explained in a press release.

This edition, under the Puntería Records label and distributed by Sony Music Latin, will feature a vinyl record, which will be released exclusively during his concert at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico on January 3, 2026, with fresh tracks such as ‘Abeja Blanca’, ‘Te lloro de frente’ and ‘Una nueva boca’.

The album includes highlights from the original version such as: ‘Qué Fuerte’, ‘Me Mataron’, ‘Cora Roto’ (Arcángel) and ‘Borrón y Cuenta Nueva’.

This album was produced by Crespo under the management of José Díaz and Alex Peña for NuLife Entertainment, and with the participation of prominent producers such as Luis Cruz, Nesty La Mente Maestra, Cauty, Ender Thomas, DANIDRVMS, Joel Báez Nieves, among others.

The first version of the phonogram includes several solo songs and duets with Latin heavyweights such as Arcángel, Ivy Queen, Víctor Manuelle, Jerry Rivera and Toño Rosario, along with rising stars such as the Dominican Ebenezer, in a healing arc that makes ‘Poeta Herío’ evolve into the song ‘Poeta Curao’.

The singer officially kicked off his ‘Poeta Herío 2025’ tour on June 21 with a concert at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico, after having performed nine shows in U.S. cities.

The author of the classic ‘Suavemente’ received the Medal of Excellence, the highest award of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute, in Washington in September.

Crespo told EFE that he considers himself fortunate to remain a household name on the Latin music scene, where he burst onto the scene in the mid-1990s with hits such as ‘Tu Sonrisa’ and ‘Píntame’.

Elvis Crespo is the only Latin artist whose music was literally played in space when astronauts aboard NASA’s 2016 Space Shuttle Discovery mission played ‘Suavemente’ during their trip around the moon.

Back on Earth, the song spent six weeks at the top of Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart and nine weeks at the top of Billboard’s Tropical Airplay chart.
