A man identified as Emilio Rodriguez, 54, was arrested by Miami-Dade County authorities after allegedly shooting another driver in the face during a vehicular argument on the night of October 31, 2025 in the city of Doral, Florida.
According to the police report, the incident occurred around 7:45 p.m., at the intersection of NW 87th Avenue and NW 64th Street, when both drivers became involved in an argument in the middle of the roadway. The confrontation quickly escalated when the two men got out of their vehicles to continue the verbal exchange in person.
Shot in the face after argument in the street
According to the arrest report, as the victim – an adult male whose identity has not been released – was returning to his vehicle, Rodriguez pulled out a firearm, yelled at him and shot him, striking him in the face.
After firing the shot, Rodriguez returned to his car and left the scene, according to Telemundo 51.
Miami-Dade Fire Department emergency services responded to the scene shortly after the incident.
The victim was immediately transported to HCA Florida Kendall Hospital, where he was admitted in stable condition.
The authorities informed that, although the projectile hit his face, his life is not in danger, although the medical prognosis will require follow-up and possible surgery.
Confession and legal consequences
Emilio Rodriguez was arrested hours later and transferred to Turner Guilford Knight (TGK) prison.
During interrogation, and after being read his rights, he admitted to firing a “warning shot” near the victim’s head, which contradicts evidence that the shot did hit the other driver’s face.
The defendant was arraigned before a judge on Saturday, November 1.
Miami-Dade County Police said the case remains under investigation and are not ruling out the possibility of filing additional charges as the prosecution proceeds and more evidence is gathered.
Road rage: a growing problem in Florida
This case adds to a growing concern in Florida and other states across the country over rising incidents of violence associated with road rage, where road rage arguments end in physical assaults or even shootings.
According to data from the Gun Violence Archive, more than 250 such incidents have been reported nationwide so far in 2025.
Local authorities reiterated the call to the public to remain calm in traffic situations and avoid confrontations that could escalate.
In addition, they recalled that the use of a firearm in public spaces carries severe legal consequences, even if it is not a premeditated attack.
Emilio Rodriguez’s case highlights the risks of carrying weapons while driving and the importance of promoting a culture of peaceful conflict resolution, especially in urban areas with high vehicular traffic such as the Miami metropolitan area.
