A powerful explosion rocked a shopping mall in Florida City, leaving several people injured.

On Saturday, May 25, 2025, a powerful explosion rocked the Palm Plaza shopping center in Florida City, south of Miami-Dade, injuring at least 10 people and causing significant structural damage.

The incident occurred around 9:00 a.m. at the Palm Bakery, located at 941 West Palm Drive, while workers from a gas company were performing work inside the store, which was closed to the public at the time.

According to the Miami-Dade Fire Department (MDFR), the explosion was caused by a propane tank inside the bakery.

Upon arrival at the scene, emergency crews found debris scattered throughout the parking lot, a small active fire, and part of the roof of the facility collapsed.

A total of 10 people were injured. Eight of them were transported to nearby hospitals, including two with serious injuries who were airlifted to a trauma center.

Two other people made their own way to medical facilities before the arrival of emergency services. All victims were in stable condition at the time of the last report.
