Tragedy Strikes: Explosion Rocks Los Angeles Police Facility, Multiple Reported Dead

A powerful explosion that occurred this Friday morning, July 18, 2025, claimed the lives of at least three Sheriff’s deputies in Los Angeles County.

The incident occurred at the Biscailuz Training Center, Special Operations Bureau headquarters, located in East LA, and is being investigated as a possible accident during an explosives training exercise.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to emergency calls shortly after 7:30 a.m.

Neighbors and nearby employees reported a loud detonation.

The explosion occurred in the parking lot area, where multiple patrol cars, trucks and specialized sheriff’s equipment were located.

Videos captured by KABC-TV and other local television stations show a scene with damaged vehicles, broken glass and blown tarps.

Tactical backpacks and scattered equipment were also found at the site, indicating that the detonation may have occurred in the midst of a practical exercise with sensitive materials.

Although the Sheriff’s Department has not publicly confirmed the names of the deceased, Attorney General Pam Bondi stated that they were informed by U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli’s office of the deaths of three deputies.

Essayli’s office has not issued official comments at this time.

The authorities have decided to keep the personal details of the victims confidential.

This is until their families are notified, but it is known that they belonged to the special operations tactical team.

The investigation is in the hands of the FBI, in coordination with local authorities.

So far, the investigations point to an accident during the handling of training explosives, and no criminal act is suspected.

However, forensic experts continue to evaluate the scene to rule out other hypotheses.

The governor of California, Gavin Newsom, was immediately informed and offered full state collaboration.
