Spain’s Nicole Wallace and Mexico’s Alfonso Herrera personify the mysticism of Isabel Allende’s ‘The House of the Spirits’ in the first preview of its long-awaited adaptation for the small screen.
The trailer, released Thursday by Prime Video, reveals an atmosphere charged with magical realism and family tensions, transporting the audience to the epic literary saga of the Trueba family through several generations of women in a context of political instability.
The series premieres on April 29 with three initial episodes, followed by one episode each week until the final episode, which will air on May 13.
‘House of Spirits’ is based on an acclaimed novel.
Based on the novel by acclaimed Chilean writer Isabel Allende, the series “is an eight-episode family saga spanning a half-century period, focusing on three generations of women (Clara, Blanca and Alba) in a conservative Latin American country shaped by class struggle, political turmoil and magic,” Prime Video explained in a brief.
Herrera, in the role of Esteban Trueba, along with Wallace and Dolores Fonzi, who play Clara del Valle at different stages of her life, head the cast of this series, which counts among its executive producers Allende herself along with actress Eva Longoria, and which has been entirely filmed in Chile.
The cast also includes Mexican Fernanda Castillo as Férula, in addition to Aline Küppenheim, Eduard Fernández, Sara Becker and Fernanda Urrejola, among others.
Prime Video’s production follows the 1993 film adaptation of the novel, which starred Oscar winners Meryl Streep and Jeremy Irons, reported Agencia EFE.
