U.S. actor George Clooney said Friday, during the preview of his new film ‘Jay Kelly’ at the London Film Festival (LFF), that he is “dying” to work with Spanish actor Javier Bardem.

“I’m dying to work with Javier Bardem, I’m trying to collaborate with him,” said the veteran performer, 64, in response to EFE, about his fellow actor.

Clooney plays movie star Jay Kelly in the film of the same name directed by Noah Baumbach (‘A Marriage Story’) and with a cast that includes Adam Sandler, Laura Dern, Emily Mortimer, Billy Crudup and Charlie Rowe.

The film explores the ins and outs of the film industry and delves into the lives of actors beyond the spotlight, as well as the balance between fame and the personal sacrifices involved in achieving success.

In this sense, Clooney stated that this balance between the personal and the professional is not something exclusive to the film industry.

“I would say almost everybody, in almost every job, is balancing the idea of success and making a living and surviving and also, you know, taking care of your family, so we’re always balancing all of that. We never get it perfect, but we’re always trying,” he commented.

Similarly, during the film, Clooney’s character reflects on the decisions, both personal and professional, taken in the past, something that also invited the actor himself to take a look back at his filmography.

“All careers are a lot of fun and have ups and downs, it’s never a long, steady trajectory. And you just hope you make more good choices than bad choices. I think in life that happens to everyone,” he noted.

He also assured that he did not usually remember his wrong decisions, such as ‘Batman and Robin’ (1997) and his “rubber nipples,” Clooney said with a laugh.

The British actor Charlie Rowe (‘Rocketman’) is in charge of bringing Jay Kelly to life in his youth, a task that he described in statements to EFE as “strange” and which he assured that “he will take with him to the grave”.

Rowe also said that he had watched Clooney’s entire filmography to prepare for the role and that the best thing he learned from the ‘Syriana’ (2005) actor was to observe “his calm, serenity and sense of humor on the set (…) bringing joy to everyone’s experience,” reported Agencia EFE.
