U.S. actor Bruce Willis, who was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia in 2023, remains “very active” and is in “good health,” his wife, model Emma Heming Willis, said in an interview.

“He (Willis) is still very active and in very good health despite everything. It’s just his brain that’s failing him,” Hemming Willis said in a preview of an interview published Tuesday with U.S. journalist Diane Sawyer.

Bruce Willis’ wife also assured that despite the fact that his “language is going,” she and her family have found new ways to communicate with the ‘Die Hard’ actor.

“We’ve had to adapt and we have a way of communicating with him that is just different,” he added.

The model revealed that at times Bruce Willis still shows “flashes of his personality.”

“We still have those days, well, not days, moments when you see his laugh. He has such a hearty laugh, and sometimes that twinkle in his eye or that smile that transports me. But they’re hard to capture because those moments come and go so quickly,” he recounted.

In March 2022, the 70-year-old actor’s family announced that Bruce Willis had been diagnosed with aphasia, but a year later Heming revealed that the actor had frontotemporal dementia, a group of disorders that progressively affect the frontal and temporal lobes of the brain leading to changes in behavior, language and executive functions.

Heming, who married Willis in 2009, is currently promoting the book ‘The Unexpected Journey,’ a guide to elder care that was “born out of the pain” of her husband’s diagnosis, she told People magazine.

The book will be available on September 9, reported Agencia EFE.
