A federal operation conducted by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents shocked a community in Huntington Park, California this past Friday. Around 5:00 a.m., a tactical team executed a forced entry using an explosive device at a home located in the 3500 block of Flower Street.

Security videos show the moment in which agents place a device on the front door and a window, followed by a controlled detonation that allowed the immediate entry of the officers. After the explosion, several heavily armed agents are seen entering the home, along with the use of a drone for internal inspection. An armored vehicle and CBP vans were also identified at the scene.

“It was scary.”

“I jumped out of bed when I heard the explosion. It was the loudest I’ve ever heard. It scared my children and me,” she stated.

Ramirez explained that he took refuge in the hallway with his family until ICE agents entered and escorted them out of the home.

The operation resulted in the arrest of Jorge Sierra Hernandez, Ramirez’s partner, who later turned himself in to authorities after communicating with CBP.

According to official sources, the arrest is related to an incident that occurred a week earlier in the city of Industry, where Hernandez allegedly rammed a federal vehicle, putting agents at risk.

“These acts of violence and obstruction, including by U.S. citizens, will have legal consequences,” the statement said.

The agency also justified the use of force, including controlled detonation, as part of the protocols when an individual is deemed to pose an operational danger.

Since the beginning of 2025, the Department of Homeland Security(DHS) has intensified immigration control and enforcement operations in Southern California.

According to media reports and civic organizations, these actions by ICE have generated concern among Hispanic communities.

Especially for its impact on mixed households (with citizens and non-citizens) and for the methods used.

Civil rights organizations have called for greater transparency and proportionality in the actions.

They stress that the use of explosives in family dwellings should be a measure of last resort and with strict judicial supervision.
