U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has installed new security measures at the processing center in Broadview, on Chicago’s west side, where demonstrators have protested for nearly a week against President Donald Trump’s‘Operation Midway Blitz‘.
A wire fence was installed around the building to prevent protesters from blocking the exit and entry of federal vehicles. Barriers were also placed to limit traffic in the vicinity of the center. While local police remained in the area.

The Broadview processing center became the scene of escalating tension last Friday when a confrontation broke out between ICE agents and demonstrators who were protesting the conditions under which immigrant detainees are being held.
According to witnesses, the protest had been ongoing for four consecutive days, drawing dozens of community members and immigrant rights activists.
Images captured by the protesters themselves and later circulated on social media platforms showed armed federal agents positioned on the roof of the facility.
From there, they allegedly deployed pepper spray and a chemical agent, believed to be tear gas, in an effort to disperse the crowd.
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) reported the arrest of three individuals.
However, immigrant advocates reported Monday September 22nd that at least 16 people were detained and questioned by several immigration agents.
Protesters have accused federal authorities of holding immigrant detainees in these facilities, which are not equipped for long stays, and of failing to provide basic necessities.
ICE has defended itself against the allegations by stating that detainees are transferred to other facilities after processing and called their accusations about conditions inside the Broadview facility false.
The fence has not driven away the protesters, who still remain in the vicinity on Tuesday.
