Bret Bradford, director of the Enforcement and Removal Operations Field Office (ERO) of ICE in Houston, highlighted the seriousness of the situation: “Unfortunately, this is not an anomaly. For the past several years, there has been virtually no deterrence to entering the country illegally. As a result, millions of illegal immigrants, including violent criminals, sexual predators, transnational gang members and alien fugitives, entered the country. Many of these dangerous criminals have victimized law-abiding residents in local communities here in Southeast Texas, and we are focused on identifying and removing them from the country before they harm anyone else.”
