The immigrant community of New Orleans, in the state of Louisiana, is preparing for a large-scale immigration operation that would begin this Monday, December 1, with the arrival of hundreds of Border Patrol agents, the agency leading President Donald Trump’s campaign for mass deportations.
At least 200 Border Patrol agents are expected to begin the operation scheduled for the first week of December, according to sources cited by ABC.
Immigration raids now go to New Orleans

The White House has used border agents to intensify raids in Los Angeles, Chicago, and most recently in Charlotte, where more than 200 people were arrested in OperationCharlotte’s Web, which ended on November 20.
Greg Bovino, commanding general of U. S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), personally oversaw the above operations.
According to sources cited by the television station, Bovino is also in charge of the deployment in New Orleans, the main city in the state of Louisiana.
In a message on his X account, Bovino warned that migrants should be on the lookout for tightening operations, but did not specify where he was headed.
“Get ready, ladies and gentlemen, immigration enforcement will reach a new level,” he said.
“To stay at home”
The imminent arrival of federal agents has forced New Orleans-based collectives to cancel in-person care for immigrants.
The organization Union Migrante announced this Sunday on its social networks that it has suspended until “future notice” all in-person events, due to the upcoming Border Patrol operations.
However, the organization said it will offer services virtually and urged immigrants to “take no chances and, if you can, stay safe at home.”
New Orleans is a Democratic enclave in a Republican-dominated state, where one of the most contested immigration prisons by human rights advocates operates.
Half of New Orleans’ immigrant population comes from Latin America, according to Census data.
A good portion came to help rebuild the city after it was devastated by Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
The operation in this city is part of President Trump’s promise to carry out mass deportations of up to one million foreigners a year, a figure that has become a priority for the White House.
