Nashville and Inter Miami played to a scoreless draw on Wednesday in the first leg of their CONCACAF Champions Cup round of 16 tie, leaving everything open for next week’s second leg in Fort Lauderdale.
The home side had more chances (15 shots, 5 of them on target), but were denied time and again by Dayne St. Clair on a frustrating night in Nashville.

Lionel Messi had one of Inter Miami’s few chances, firing a shot early in the second half after crossing midfield on the run, but Nashville’s Brian Schwake cleared.
The two teams will meet again next Wednesday at Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale.
It will be Inter Miami’s farewell to what has been its home since its founding.
The reigning MLS champions will inaugurate their new stadium in Miami on April 4, where they could play in the quarterfinals in the event of a hypothetical qualification.

Their hypothetical opponent in the quarterfinals will emerge from the tie between Philadelphia and América, which the ‘Águilas’ dominate after winning the first leg 1-0 in the United States on Tuesday.

Nashville SC and Inter Miami have been engaged in intense clashes since the Florida club’s arrival in MLS in 2020.
The most memorable duel occurred in the final of the Leagues Cup 2023, when Inter Miami, led by Lionel Messi, defeated Nashville in a dramatic penalty shootout after a 1-1 draw in regular time.
That title represented the first trophy in Inter Miami’s history.
Since then, the two teams have faced each other in MLS and regional tournaments with very evenly matched games.
