On Sunday, March 15, 2026, Vancouver turned the debut of Colombian soccer player James Rodríguez in the Minnesota jersey in the MLS into a nightmare, as they overwhelmed the team of the Colombian No. 10 by six goals to zero.
James, who signed a six-month contract with Minnesota United last February, came on in the 64th minute, replacing Argentine Tomás Chancalay when his team was already down 0-5 on the scoreboard.

The 34-year-old Colombian midfielder was unable to prevent a resounding defeat for Minnesota United, who conceded their sixth goal ten minutes after the Colombian took the field.
Minnesota was down four goals to zero at halftime, with goals from Sebastian Berhalter, Brian White, Mathias Laborda and Emmanuel Sabbi.
Nine minutes into the second half, White completed his personal brace with a five-goal to nil goal.
After James Rodriguez took the field in Minnesota’s No. 10 jersey, Senegal’s Cheikh Sabaly scored the six-goal scorer.

Despite the loss in his MLS debut, James Rodriguez was all smiles after the game.
This when he exchanged a heartfelt embrace with Germany’s Thomas Muller, with whom he shared a locker room and won a Champions League with Bayern Munich.
Minnesota is second to last in the MLS West after winning two games, drawing one and losing one in four rounds.
James’ team will have a chance to vindicate itself next week at home against the Seattle Sounders.
Vancouver, last year’s MLS finalists, won all four of their games this season and lead the West tied with Los Angeles FC.
