Jennifer Lopez and Edward James Olmos reunite after 28 years of Selena

New Netflix project on the way

This 2025 marks a special moment for Latin music and movie fans: Jennifer Lopez and Edward James Olmos return to share the screen 28 years after starring in the iconic film Selena (1997), the film that catapulted JLo to worldwide stardom.

The news was confirmed by Jennifer Lopez herself on her social networks, where she posted an image with Olmos recreating a promotional photo from the movie. Both will participate in Netflix’s new romantic comedy, Office Romance, under the direction of Ol Parker (Ticket to Paradise). Also part of the cast are Brett Goldstein (Ted Lasso) and Betty Gilpin: “From Selena to now, this journey has come full circle…. We are thrilled to welcome the amazing Edward James Olmos to Office Romance,” Jennifer wrote on Instagram.

This year also coincides with the 30th anniversary of Selena Quintanilla’s passing, and Jennifer Lopez has taken the opportunity to reflect on what it meant to her to play her in her career and personal life.

In an interview with Telemundo, JLo confessed:

“It was one of the most beautiful and impactful experiences of my life. I learned so much, not only about the industry, but about life itself.”

He also explained how that role taught him how to handle fame and navigate personal relationships:

“Through that role, I learned how to give interviews, how to move in the industry, and above all, to value the people around me,” she said.
