Juan Soto made Major League Baseball history by signing the most valuable contract ever recorded in MLB. The Dominican outfielder agreed to a 15-year, $765 million contract with the New York Mets, officialized in December 2024. This historic deal far surpasses Shohei Ohtani’s previous record with the Dodgers and redefines financial standards in professional baseball.

The figure makes Juan Soto, at just 26 years old, the highest-paid player in history by total contract value, and cements his status as one of the sport’s top stars.

Prior to Juan Soto, the biggest contract was that of Shohei Ohtani, who signed for $700 million and 10 years with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2023.

Another Dominican, Vladimir Guerrero Jr., closes the exclusive group of only three players who have signed contracts worth more than $500 million.

This after reaching an agreement with the Toronto Blue Jays for $500 million through 2039.
