Judge Silvia Carreño of the Federal Court of Hato Rey, in San Juan, ordered Thursday the ex-wife of Puerto Rican urban artist Daddy Yankee, Mireddys González, to turn over electronic devices with emails and files that were originally deleted from the corporation El Cartel Records.

Carreño at the initial hearing of this new case, which is part of the legal dispute that began at the end of 2024, explained that an extraction of the information stored in the equipment will be made so that the lawyers can obtain the corporation’s documentation.

The artist sued his ex-wife and ex-sister-in-law, Ayeisha González, for allegedly destroying files of his corporations El Cartel Records and Los Cangris, Inc.

Mireddys Gonzalez admitted in court that she deleted emails from her corporate account between 2020 and 2024 and that she used a tablet, a phone and a computer to conduct business for El Cartel Records.

Likewise, Ayeisha Gonzalez stated that she managed a personal email account from a laptop to deal with issues of the corporation.

“From now until they are returned to them, any manipulation they make of the devices, specifically to erase information, will be contempt of court,” the magistrate warned.

Daddy Yankee, accompanied by his legal representative in this hearing, Victor Acevedo Hernandez, said upon arriving at the Court: “May it end in God’s peace. Let’s get over it.

Daddy Yankee’s lawyers alleged that the Gonzalez sisters violated the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act and the Stored Communications Act by accessing and destroying corporate data without his authorization.

Ramon Ayala Rodriguez, the artist’s given name, is seeking $12 million, alleging that the two accessed without authorization and deleted essential files related to the artist’s career, including information from his ‘La Última Vuelta’ tour and the sale of his music catalog.

The dispute over the corporations began after in December 2024 the Gonzalez sisters made transfers totaling one hundred million dollars from the corporate bank accounts to personal accounts of each party, without the knowledge or authorization of the artist.

The couple’s separation was confirmed on those dates and the divorce was made official on February 19, reported Agencia EFE, after almost thirty years of marriage and two children together.
