Julieta Venegas is ready to open a new musical stage. Through her official networks, the Mexican singer-songwriter revealed that her next album will be titled “Norteña”, a project that, as she explained, represents an emotional and sonorous return to her roots.
In her message, the artist -native of Tijuana, Baja California- shared that this album was born from a deeply personal place: the border, a space where Mexico and the United States cross every day not only in maps, but also in culture, music, identity and daily life. For thousands of Hispanics living in the United States, especially in states like California, Arizona, Texas or Nevada, this theme connects with a familiar reality: the constant mix of traditions and sounds that coexist in the same environment.

Julieta Venegas explained that the musical concept of “Norteña” comes from her childhood experience.
As well as how he grew up listening to different genres at the same time.
His vision starts from something very characteristic of Tijuana:
A border city marked by movement, diversity and the coexistence of influences that seem to be opposites, but in practice complement each other.
The album’s repertoire will integrate elements of Mexican popular music, such as rancheras and cumbia.
But it will also include references to other styles such as rock, Anglo pop and even disco.
For the composer, this mix is not an empty experiment:
It is a direct reflection of the place where he was born and the kind of stories that are lived on the border, where every day new experiences, migrations, changes and urban stories appear.

Julieta Venegas emphasized that the title of the album is a declaration of identity.
Far from being a simple name, “Norteña” represents a tribute to the north of Mexico and all that this territory means in terms of memory, roots and belonging.
In his publication, Venegas summarized the spirit of the project by stating:
“I love to share with them what I need to express, which is my roots, but also my own way of showing it and interpreting it.”
With that phrase, the artist makes it clear that her music not only looks to the past, but reinterprets it with her style, her sensibility and her creative evolution.
Her vision stems from something very characteristic of Tijuana

An artistic stage with a frontier outlook

This announcement comes after a period of introspection in which Julieta Venegas decided to transform the concerns of her environment into songs that function as chronicles:
Little stories that speak of a place where cultures meet and mingle.
For U.S. Hispanic audiences, this new album promises to be a work full of identity and emotion.
Especially for those who grew up -or live today- between two worlds.
For now, “Norteña” is already a promise:
Mexican tradition and contemporary pop music come together in the same story, told by one of the most beloved voices in Latin music.
