After approximately 12 hours of deliberations, the jury reported to Judge Arun Subramanian that it had reached a verdict on the charges related to sex trafficking and transportation for the purpose of prostitution, but did not reach consensus on the charge of conspiracy to commit racketeering.

The latter is the most serious and could carry a sentence of life imprisonment in the event of conviction.

Judge Subramanian instructed the jury to continue deliberations in search of a unanimous decision on the remaining charge.

However, the jury expressed that there are strong and unpersuadable opinions on both sides regarding this charge.

Prosecutors accuse Combs of leading a sexual exploitation ring that operated under his music empire.

The allegations include coercion, physical and psychological abuse, and the organization of sexual events called “freak-offs,” in which the victims were allegedly forced to participate in sexual acts with third parties.

Key testimony came from his ex-girlfriend, singer Cassie Ventura, and another woman who testified under the pseudonym “Jane.”

Both described experiences of abuse and coercion during their relationship with Combs.

The defense argued that the relationships were consensual and presented text messages and other documents to support this claim.

The other charges of sex trafficking and transportation for the purpose of prostitution also carry severe penalties.

The trial has been closely followed by the media and the public, given the profile of the defendant and the seriousness of the accusations.

The jury will continue deliberations in the coming days.
