An edited video of singer Justin Timberlake’s June 2024 arrest in New York for drunk driving will be released after a settlement was reached in response to a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit by several media outlets.
The artist sued the Sag Harbor (Long Island) municipality where he was arrested earlier this month, when he was about to make public the video, recorded with a body camera, claiming that his reputation would be affected.
In the lawsuit he argued that the video shows him “in a state of extreme vulnerability” and captures “intimate details of his physical appearance, demeanor, speech and conduct” during the arrest and that its release would “cause him serious and irreparable harm,” expose him to public ridicule and harassment, and would not serve any legitimate public interest, according to CBS.

The singer and songwriter’s lawyers and those of the municipality finally reached an agreement, which was endorsed by a judge, for the edited video to be made public.
According to CBS, acting Long Island Supreme Court Justice Joseph Farneti noted in his decision that Timberlake’s team’s release of the documentary with edited portions “does not constitute an unwarranted invasion” of his privacy.
However, it is not known when this video will be made public.

Timberlake finally pleaded guilty in September 2024 to a misdemeanor DUI, for which he paid a fine, performed 25 hours of community service as well as a public safety announcement, following a plea deal, reported Agencia EFE.
