Mexican singer Kenia Os, 26, will offer in her next album her “most personal” record with songs that will exploit the weight of the visual to represent a stage of her life with a “totally different” energy after more than a year of creation, the artist explained in an interview with EFE.

‘K de Karma’ will be released next March 19, but the singer has already been publishing some of the most outstanding songs of the work that “has cost her the most to do” in her entire career, a proposal different from her previous stage in tone and form by representing a “universe of feelings”.

“I feel that they are going to love many of the songs. Others are going to cost them, like ‘Belladona’, which is a very different song (…) This is the album that has cost me the most in my entire career,” said Kenya Os.

However, the artist values the importance of “the visual” in her latest work and, looking back, she appreciates how much she has matured as a professional since she started at the age of 18, when she “knew nothing about the medium and recorded everything” from her city, the coastal city of Mazatlán, located in the state of Sinaloa (northwest).

The result of this evolution was ‘K for Karma’, a kind of “play” made after a year of creation and fifteen days of shooting in which, he said, “I left home at six in the morning and arrived at ten, eleven or sometimes even later”.

“I don’t live for people’s approval”: Kenia OS

That is why she feels “very proud” of her work, so that, she added, if people “don’t understand it or don’t appreciate it, it’s not my responsibility”, although she expressed her wish that her fans can “feel represented” with her new songs.

“At the end of the day I don’t live for people’s approval. I live for my approval and for what makes me feel happy as an artist and as a person, and I think that’s also very important,” he said.

Kenia Os, who has become a viral phenomenon and has more than 18 million followers on the social network Instagram, values positively the reception her songs are having, and mentions how “impressive” it is for her that people tell her that “my music has saved them, that it has taken them out of depression, that it motivates them to continue every day”.

However, she is aware of the negative side of social networks, an aspect that “is not easy” to manage because people have “such divided opinions about your physique,” even more so when you are a woman, she lamented.

“I think that in the world (…) you are worth for how you look, you are worth for how pretty you are, for how thin you are, for your skin color or for your appearance in general. That is something very complicated, because at the end of the day we are imperfect human beings, and it is something I have had to learn,” she commented.

Regarding his relationship with fame, he separated his facet as an artist from his personal life, recalling how at the beginning “the character eats you up”, so you have to know how to “keep your feet on the ground”.

Asked about her next professional steps, reported Agencia EFE, the singer wants to grow internationally and “hit Spain to do concerts there,” without forgetting her gratitude for the Mexican public, whose “loyalty” and “support” she appreciates over the years.
