When everything seemed to be decided in favor of Hamlin and Byron, a flat tire on the No. 24 car (Byron) with three laps to go changed the course of the championship.
The incident resulted in a yellow flag and an Overtime (restart with two final laps).
Kyle Larson, who had changed only two tires on his last stop, started from the pole position and made a perfect start on the outside, passing Hamlin to take the win and his second championship.
