This coming Sunday, American driver Kyle Larson will try to write his name in the history books of motorsports by competing on the same day in two of the most demanding races on the world calendar: the Indy 500 and NASCAR’s Coca-Cola 600. A physical, logistical and mental challenge that very few have dared to face.

Kyle Larson will start his day at the legendary Indianapolis Motor Speedway, where the Indy 500 will begin at 10:00 a.m. (Mexico City time / 8:00 a.m. – PT / 11:00 a.m. – ET). After completing 200 laps of the 2.5-mile oval, the driver will take a direct flight to Charlotte, North Carolina, where the Coca-Cola 600 will be run at 4:00 p.m. (2:00 p.m. – PT / 5:00 p.m. – ET), the longest race on the NASCAR calendar at 600 miles.

Who has achieved this before?

Until 2025, only John Andretti, Robby Gordon, Tony Stewart and Kurt Busch have competed in both races on the same day.

Of these, Tony Stewart is the only one who managed to complete both competitions in 2001.

He finished sixth in the Indy 500 and third in the Coca-Cola 600, totaling 1,100 miles in a single day.

Kyle Larson had already attempted this feat in 2023, but rain prevented him from completing the day.

Now, with accumulated experience and better logistics, the Hendrick Motorsports team driver is determined to achieve the “double”.

Concentration and endurance challenge

Beyond speed, the real challenge lies in physical and mental endurance.

High temperatures, muscle fatigue and extreme concentration during more than 10 hours of continuous driving make this feat a test only for the most prepared.

Kyle Larson has been training intensively and claims to be ready:

“If I do a good job and get good results, proving that we can compete with the best in IndyCar will also be a great achievement,” the driver commented.

Kyle Larson’s story is especially inspiring for U.S. Hispanics.

They see in him a model of effort, perseverance and limitless ambition.

His attempt to complete the automotive “double” this Sunday is a reminder that the biggest challenges are only taken on by the bravest.
