With more than sixty years of history, La Sonora Dinamita de Lucho Argain continues to be one of the most emblematic groups of Latin American cumbia. Since its founding in 1960 in Cartagena, Colombia, the band has conquered generations with its unmistakable style, characterized by the fusion of tropical rhythms, festive lyrics and a contagious energy that transcends borders.

Over the decades, songs such as “Que nadie sepa mi sufrir”, “Escándalo”, “La suavecita”, “Mi cucu” and “La parabólica” have become true anthems of Latin American popular music. Although born in Colombia, it was in Mexico, during the seventies, where the group established itself as one of the pillars of the genre, achieving a cultural and emotional bond with the public that remains in force to this day.

The group demonstrates that its legacy is more alive than ever with the release of its latest album, Cumbia sin fronteras, available on September 19 on all digital platforms. This new work represents a meeting point between tradition and modernity, combining the classic sounds of Sonora Dinamita with collaborations with renowned Mexican voices such as Kalimba, Yahir, Victor Garcia, Kika Edgar and Juan Solo.

In an interview with People en Español, the members explained that the inspiration to create this project came from the same public that has accompanied them for more than six decades.

“Our inspiration comes from the public. After so many years touring stages and seeing how cumbia continues to unite hearts around the world, we felt the need to make an album that celebrated just that: that music has no limits or borders.”

The group describes this album as a tribute to the new generations that have made cumbia their own, without forgetting the essence that has characterized them since their foundation. With a fresh and contemporary sound, Cumbia sin fronteras celebrates the validity of a genre that continues to break cultural and linguistic barriers.

The process of selecting the guest artists was, according to the band, an enriching experience both musically and humanly.

“We looked for artists that we not only admired for their talent, but also for their human quality and their connection with the audience. Each one brought their style, energy and identity to the songs.”

The chemistry between the performers and the group was reflected in the naturalness with which each one assumed the cumbiambero rhythm. Kalimba brings his characteristic soulful timbre; Yahir imprints a Latin pop tone; Víctor García connects with the regional feeling; while Kika Edgar adds a powerful and elegant voice.

Each collaboration, according to the members of the group, has its own brilliance within the album. But it is with Juan Solo that Sonora Dinamita found the flagship song of this new stage.

The single “Los Solteros”, performed with Juan Solo, has positioned itself as the album’s cover song. It is an upbeat and festive cumbia that celebrates freedom, joy and personal independence.

“It represents the partying and contagious spirit that has always characterized La Sonora Dinamita. We want those who listen to it to forget their worries for a few minutes, to dance, sing and enjoy.”

The message behind the song, they explain, is simple but powerful: enjoy life without labels or commitments, letting music be a space of liberation and encounter.

With more than 60 years of experience, countless international tours and millions of plays on digital platforms, La Sonora Dinamita continues to demonstrate that cumbia does not go out of style, but reinvents itself. Cumbia sin fronteras not only reaffirms the legacy of Lucho Argain and the group’s founders, but also projects the future of the genre with a modern and inclusive vision.

“Music has no borders, and cumbia, much less,” they conclude.

In every chord, in every performance, Sonora Dinamita confirms that its mission remains the same since 1960: to bring joy, rhythm and union to every corner where its music is played.
