Young soccer phenom Lamine Yamal was trending again, this time off the field, as the FC Barcelona and Spain national team player shared on social media a preview of the new official FIFA World Cup anthem, a revamped version of “Jump,” Van Halen’s 1984 classic.

The reinterpretation features an all-star cast led by J Balvin, singer Amber Mark, legendary guitarist Steve Vai and drummer/producer Travis Barker. The full release is scheduled for March 6, on Real Thing Records and Capitol Records, and can now be pre-ordered on digital platforms.

The new version of “Jump” seeks to capture the energy, passion and adrenaline surrounding the World Cup.

Coca-Cola presented a fragment of the song on January 30 as part of “Bubbling Up”.

It is the first short film in its global campaign for the tournament.

In the preview shared of the World Cup anthem by Lamine Yamal on Instagram, the footballer is shown walking among journalists while listening to music with headphones.

When a reporter asks him what he is listening to, he hears J Balvin’s voice interpreting:

“We celebrated a goal with euphoria,” generating thousands of reactions and comments on social networks.

For fans living in the United States – especially in cities with a strong soccer culture such as Miami, Los Angeles, New York and Houston – these types of collaborations reinforce the connection between sports and Latin music at global events.

At the age of 18, Yamal is already considered one of the great promises of world soccer.

As a right winger for FC Barcelona and a regular in the Spanish national team, he has broken records for precociousness and has established himself as one of the most visible young faces in the sport.

Lamine Yamal’s participation in the promotion of the World Cup anthem confirms his growing media and commercial impact.

This is becoming increasingly common among international soccer stars.
