If you don’t suffer, it’s not Chivas! Guadalajara struck an authoritative blow on Saturday with a 3-2 away win over Monterrey, in a match that had everything: goals, blunders, and a movie-like ending in which José ‘Tala’ Rangel confirmed that he is at senior national team level.

With this victory, the Rebaño Sagrado reaches 30 points, three points behind its closest rival, Cruz Azul, and confirms that Gago’s team is currently the team to beat in Liga MX. This is how Tala Rangel saves the penalty.

The show of “La Hormiga” and Co.

From the start, Chivas showed hunger.

In the 18th minute, Armando “La Hormiga” González took advantage of a mistake in the Regia defense to score his tenth goal of the tournament, tying Italian Joao Pedro in the individual scoring charts.

The second half was a red and white dance:

José Castillo made it 2-0 at 46′ after a mistake in the Rayados’ start.

Bryan Gonzalez sealed what looked like a 3-0 lead in the 55th minute.

Heart-stopping closing and the flight of the ‘Tala’.

It looked like a quiet afternoon, but Monterrey woke up at the end.

With goals from Djurdevic (88′) and Ricardo Chávez (93′), Los Rayados came within one goal of the feat.

The tragedy for Chivas seemed to be over when in the 98th minute the referee called a penalty kick in Monterrey’s favor.

Uros Djurdevic took the ball, the pressure was maximum, but in front of him was “Tala” Rangel.

The goalkeeper guessed right, flew in and saved the shot, unleashing madness on the tapatía bench and sealing the three points.

Starting goalkeeper for the World Cup?

Rangel’s performance not only gives Chivas the lead, but also sends a direct message to the Mexican National Team.

With the World Cup just around the corner and an endless list of injuries, the “Tala” is raising its hand with championship-winning performances.

Do you think that “Tala” Rangel has already taken the place of Ochoa and Malagón for the World Cup?
