Tiger Woods said he was “talking to the president” after being involved last week in a traffic accident in Florida, according to a video recorded by a police body camera released Thursday.
The footage shows a security officer instructing the golfer to stand next to him after the accident occurred, to which Woods replies, “Yes, I was talking to the president.”

It is unclear whether he is referring to U.S. President Donald Trump, who said last week that he had a conversation with him after the accident.
These new images, which show Woods looking at his cell phone at the time of his traffic accident in Florida last week – as he revealed to police – have come to light on the same day that body camera videos from officers during his DUI arrest were made public.
“I looked down at my phone and all of a sudden…boom,” Woods, leaning on one knee on the side of the road, told one of the officers who came to the scene of the accident and recorded everything with his body camera.
The accident took place last Friday, March 27, when the vehicle driven by Woods attempted to pass a tractor-trailer truck at high speed on a narrow road, but ended up hitting its rear end and overturning on the driver’s side.
Neither the golfer, who was traveling alone, nor the driver of the other vehicle was injured, although Woods was arrested and spent several hours in jail on charges of driving under the influence, property damage, and refusing to submit to a urine test to detect whether he had consumed other banned substances.
The winner of 15 majors was carrying two hydrocodone pills, an opioid painkiller, had “glassy eyes” and walked in a “lethargic” manner during his arrest after the traffic accident, authorities revealed.

The arrest report shows that Woods was “sweating heavily” despite being in a vehicle, a white Ford F-150, with air conditioning, as well as speaking “unusually” to officers and having dilated pupils.
In the video revealed Thursday by several channels, including TMZ, Woods’ vehicle can be seen completely overturned, while other photographs show the golfer sitting in the back of the police vehicle that transported him to the Martin County Jail.
Woods, 50, announced last Tuesday that he is temporarily stepping away from golf to receive treatment and focus on his health, at a time when he was exploring the idea of participating in the Augusta Masters, the first ‘big one’ of the season that will take place next week, which would have marked his return after almost two years of inactivity.
This is not the first time Woods has been involved in a road accident.
In February 2021, he suffered open tibia and fibula fractures after a serious accident in Los Angeles that seriously jeopardized his career.
Woods was working to return to competition after rupturing his Achilles tendon in 2025.
