Leonardo Aguilar became a topic of conversation after his recent presentation in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where attendance was considerably lower than expected. Despite the situation, the singer defended his artistic career and downplayed the importance of the criticisms that arose in social networks.
On February 7, Pepe Aguilar’s son and Angela Aguilar’s brother performed at the Kiva Auditorium as part of the “Nueva Generación” tour, accompanied by Mariachi Herencia de México.
The venue, with capacity for 2,300 people, showed a limited occupancy, since according to data visible on the Ticketmaster platform, ticket sales would have reached only between 5 and 10% of the capacity.
Leonardo Aguilar: Free tickets and reactions in networks

Due to low demand, organizers opted to distribute free tickets. The Mexican Consulate in Albuquerque publicly thanked the singer for the donation of double passes for the Mexican community living in New Mexico and Northwest Texas. In their social networks they highlighted the gesture and welcomed the performer as a representative of Mexican music in the region.
Videos of the concert began to circulate on digital platforms. Most of the clips showed only Leonardo on stage, with no wide shots of the audience. The only video with an open shot was recorded with the auditorium in darkness, which made it difficult to appreciate the real number of attendees. However, in some fragments there were echoes of applause and shouts, and a small group of about 50 people could be seen cheering the artist on.
The situation generated divided comments: while some users questioned the call, others defended the singer and pointed out that all artists face ups and downs in their career.
Pre-show message

Hours before taking the stage, Leonardo Aguilar shared a video in which he directly addressed the situation. “Sometimes there are sold-out shows, sometimes there are shows that didn’t go so well for us. It doesn’t matter. At the end of the day, what it’s all about is going out to sing and whether there are a hundred thousand people or a hundred, it doesn’t matter, it’s the same feeling,” he said.
In the same message, he recounted his 14-year career, recalling his participation in family projects such as “Jaripeo sin Fronteras” and his steps as a soloist. He thanked those who have supported his musical proposal and said he was proud of the work he is doing.
Leonardo emphasized that for him passion and commitment to music are above media coverage or external opinions. “I feel happy and grateful to the people who decide to come and see me,” he said.
Although low attendance marked his only U.S. date on this tour, the singer made it clear that he will continue to focus on his artistic growth. In an industry where public exposure magnifies every detail, his stance is one of consistency and connection with the audience, regardless of the size of the stage.
