Leonardo DiCaprio’s Appian Way production company, along with Chad A. Verdi’s Verdi Productions and Danny Strong will produce a documentary about the making of the film classic ‘The Wizard of Oz,’ Variety reported Wednesday.
The project, scheduled for release in 2026, is called ‘Oz’ and will be directed by Tom Donahue, who has helmed documentaries such as ‘This Changes Everything’ and ‘Casting by’.
A never-before-seen look at the classic ‘The Wizard of Oz
‘Oz’ is currently in production and offers a behind-the-scenes look at the 1939 film that starred Judy Garland.
In addition to exploring the reasons why the film became a timeless classic.
According to the project description, the Victor Fleming-directed film, “tested the limits of its creators.”
The new project will showcase never-before-seen or heard footage of the filmmaking process.

Leonardo DiCaprio said in a statement reported by the U.S. media.
Fleming’s film has spawned sequels and musical productions, including the Broadway musical ‘Wicked’.
It has also been versioned for the cinema in a successful production starring Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo.
A digital version adapted for the spherical enclosure is currently being screened at the Sphere in Las Vegas.
