Colombian singer Manuel Turizo released his new album entitled Apambichao, a project that marks an evolution in his musical career by exploring a wide variety of Latin genres. This work comes after the global success of “La bachata”, a song that reached the first place in important music charts in 2022. With this new album, Turizo partially moves away from his signature urban pop style to dive into sounds such as bachata, merengue, reggae, afrohouse, boleros and other rhythms influenced by traditional Latin music.

For U.S. Hispanic audiences, these types of proposals reflect the cultural diversity that defines today’s Latin music and its growing impact on the U.S. market.

The concept of Manuel Turizo’s Apambichao is born from a clear sensation: living in a constant state of vacation.

Turizo himself has explained that the main inspiration comes from his personal experiences.

Especially summers in Coveñas, a beach in Colombia close to his hometown, Montería.

The album features 13 songs and was built organically, without a rigid concept from the start.

In fact, the song “Te creo” (I believe you) was one of the first compositions that shaped the project.

The name of the album comes from “pambiche”, a style of Dominican merengue with a slower rhythm.

This reinforces the Caribbean and relaxed identity of the album.

Manuel Turizo’s Apambichao includes collaborations with several well-known Latin music artists, such as Maluma, Emilia, Dei V, Xavi, Luis Alfonso and Dalmata.

In addition, the inclusion of the voice of the late vallenato icon Diomedes Díaz stands out, adding an important cultural component to the project.

These collaborations reflect Turizo’s intention to connect with different audiences and styles within Latin music.
