Mexico’s Attorney General’s Office (FGR) confirmed on Wednesday that it is investigating Raul Rocha Cantu, owner of the Miss Universe brand, as part of a case of alleged links to organized crime, particularly drug trafficking, huachicol (fuel smuggling) and arms trafficking.
In a statement, the FGR said that since November 29, 2024, investigation file 928/2024 was opened against 13 people “for organized crime, in relation to drug trafficking, huachicol and arms trafficking”.
The FGR explained that the case is the result of “an investigation carried out by the federal Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection”, from which “sufficient information was obtained” to formalize the process.
He also added that “in said folder, ten days ago” a federal judge “issued arrest warrants against 13 people about whom, for obvious reasons, secrecy must be maintained”.

Among the accused persons, the FGR indicated, “an arrest warrant has just been served against a federal official involved in such crimes”.
Regarding Rocha, the prosecutor’s office stated that the accusations made in recent days are being investigated.
“In the specific case of one of the accused, Raúl “R”, of whom there has been various public information, this Prosecutor’s Office states that, in the corresponding procedure, fundamental data is being obtained that will allow the Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office (MPF) to continue and deepen this investigation”, he pointed out.
Finally, the prosecutor’s office assured that Rocha’s legal situation will be informed “as soon as the evidence is confirmed with certainty”.
“As the pending arrest warrants are served and the public hearings before the federal judges are held, the information can be shared with full precision,” he concluded.
The FGR’s report comes after Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum this morning asked the Attorney General’s Office to clearly inform if there is an investigation or arrest warrant against the Miss Universe brand owner, after Reforma newspaper published that Rocha was charged by authorities for his alleged responsibility in drug, arms and fuel trafficking between Guatemala and Mexico.

According to the newspaper, Rocha Cantú is considered by the Attorney General’s Office to be one of the leaders of a criminal organization dedicated to smuggling fuel that crosses the Usumacinta River in boats and is transported in trucks from Chiapas and Tabasco, in southern Mexico, to Querétaro, in central Mexico.
Sheinbaum stressed that the possible legal proceedings against Rocha should not be mixed with the recent participation of Fatima Bosch, the Mexican representative who won the Miss Universe 2025 title on November 21, as, reported Agencia EFE, attempts have been made to link the two issues in order to detract from the young woman’s performance.
