Passport requirements

The documents required vary depending on whether it is the first time you are applying or if it is a renewal. However, the general requirements are:

For adults (first time or renewal):

Original birth certificate.

Official photo identification, such as consular registration, INE or valid Mexican driver’s license.

Proof of Mexican nationality, if no official Mexican identification is presented.

Payment of fees according to the chosen term.

For minors:

Mandatory presence of the minor and both parents or guardians.

Birth certificate of the minor.

Official identification of parents.

Consent form (OP-7) signed at the consulate.

Proof of Mexican nationality of the minor (if applicable).

Costs and term

The rates in effect for 2025 (may vary slightly) are:

Passport for 3 years: $89 dollars

Passport for 6 years: $120 US dollars

Passport for 10 years (only for those over 18 years old): $180 USD

Persons over 60 years of age, disabled or temporary agricultural workers may be eligible for a 50% discount in the payment of fees, upon presentation of the corresponding documentation.

Delivery time

In most cases, the passport is delivered on the same day of the appointment, as long as the documents are complete and there are no observations.

However, in special situations or if additional verifications are required, delivery may take a few days.

Important recommendations

Arrive on time for your appointment and with all documents in original and copy.

Check in advance the rates and forms of payment accepted (in general, only debit or credit cards are accepted).
