According to reports by Grupo Reforma, Débora Estrella was traveling in a Cessna 172 light aircraft with registration number XB-BGH, belonging to the Centro de Estudios Aeronáuticos de Mazatlán (CEAM), an aviation school with branches in Monterrey and Torreón.
The light aircraft took off from the North Airport, in the municipality of Apodaca, around 4:00 p.m., bound for a private runway at the Monterrey Interport, located in Garcia.
The mayor of Garcia, Manuel Guerra, reported that the aircraft lost control shortly after takeoff in an attempt to return to the runway.
Apparently, the light aircraft hit the ground near the Pesquería River, causing the immediate death of its occupants: Debora Estrella and the pilot, Bryan Ballesteros Argueta.

Civil Protection of Nuevo Leon confirmed that the bodies of both occupants were recovered around 4:12 a.m. on Saturday, September 21.
They were later transferred to the Forensic Medical Service of the Hospital Universitario de Monterrey for autopsies.
Rescue efforts were complicated due to the terrain conditions and the fact that the bodies were trapped inside the aircraft. Authorities used specialized machinery to remove the remains of the fuselage.
The crash is being investigated by Mexican aeronautical authorities, who so far have not issued an official report on the causes of the accident.
However, images captured by a security camera have been taken into account, as well as eyewitness accounts. According to Reforma, it was observed that the plane attempted a maneuver to return to the runway before crashing.
It was also mentioned that a helicopter and, presumably, a drone were flying over the accident area, although it has not been confirmed whether these aircraft were related to the accident or to CEAM operations.
