Mexico celebrates! Canelo Alvarez wins over William Scull

The Mexican boxer won by unanimous decision after 12 rounds

Saul “Canelo” Alvarez reaffirmed his supremacy in world boxing by defeating Cuban William Scull by unanimous decision at the ANB Arena in Riyadh.

With this victory, the Mexican unified the WBA, WBC, WBO and The Ring titles, regaining the IBF belt and consolidating his position as undisputed super middleweight champion.

From the first round, Canelo imposed his experience and technique on the ring.

Although Scull showed resilience and determination, the Mexican controlled the pace of the fight, landing accurate punches and avoiding the Cuban’s offensives.

After 12 rounds, the judges awarded the victory to Alvarez with scores of 119-109, 118-110 and 117-111.

The fight was held at the ANB Arena in Riyadh, capital of Saudi Arabia, as the main event of the Fatal Fury card.

The judges’ scorecards reflected Canelo Alvarez’s superiority with scores of 115-113, 116-112 and 119-100 in his favor.

Throughout the 12 rounds, William Scull, originally from Matanzas, Cuba, avoided close exchanges and opted to attack from a distance.

However, Canelo was more offensive and landed the most effective punches of the fight, which allowed him to take a clear unanimous decision victory.

The fight was a true tricolor party.

Majo Aguilar, Ángela Aguilar’s cousin, interpreted the National Anthem with pride and elegance, drawing applause from the audience.

Marco Verde, a promising young Sinaloan who debuted with a convincing six-round victory over Michel Polina, also stood out.

His aggressive style and attitude in the ring echoed the legacy of great Mexican fighters.

Canelo, visibly moved, dedicated his victory to his family and all Mexicans:

“This victory is for my people, those who never give up, those who fight every day, ¡Arriba México!

With this new defense, Canelo continues as the 168-pound absolute champion, and the fans are already clamoring for a new challenge.

Will David Benavidez be next, or will he be looking to close the cycle with a rematch against Dmitry Bivol?
