Mexico fine-tunes preparation for 2025 Gold Cup with a mix of experience and youth

The Mexican National Team, led by Javier “Vasco” Aguirre, is in the final phase of its preparation for the 2025 Gold Cup, to be held from June 14 to July 6 in the United States and Canada.

The team seeks to defend the title obtained in the previous edition, combining the experience of veteran players with the enthusiasm of promising young players.

Javier “Vasco” Aguirre has released a preliminary roster of 35 players, which will be reduced to 26 before the start of the 2025 Gold Cup.

Goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa, who returns to the national team with the intention of playing in his sixth World Cup, stands out.

As well as young talents such as Gilberto Mora, 16 years old, who repeats his call-up after his debut in March.

The preparation includes two friendly matches: Saturday, June 7 against Switzerland at Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City, and Tuesday, June 10 against Turkey at Kenan Stadium in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

These matches will be used to adjust tactical details and evaluate the performance of the players in preparation for the 2025 Gold Cup.

Mexico is part of Group A along with the Dominican Republic, Suriname and Costa Rica.

June 14: vs. Dominican Republic at SoFi Stadium, Inglewood, California.
