Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum brought the 2026 World Cup 2026 to her morning press conference on Tuesday, commemorating 100 days to go until the tournament kicks off, with the first match to be held in the Mexican capital on June 11.
“For the boys and girls who are in school right now, but later will be watching the morning show on social networks, we bring them the Cup,” said the smiling president as she received the trophy that will crown the best team in the world on July 19.

Mexico’s president, Claudia Sheinbaum, was accompanied by Gabriela Cuevas, representative of the 2026 World Cup organization; and former Brazilian soccer star José Roberto Gama de Oliveira ‘Bebeto’.
For his part, the director of Coca-Cola Mexico, Louis Balat, assured that the company will seek to make the 2026 World Cup an inclusive celebration that is close to all citizens.
“Our commitment is very, very clear. That this World Cup will be for everyone.
“It should not remain only in the stadiums, but should be lived in the squares, in the streets and in the communities of absolutely every corner of this beautiful country,” said the executive.
Mexico will be one of the venues for the 2026 World Cup, along with the United States and Canada, and will become the only country to host the World Cup for the third time, after the 1970 and 1986 editions.
“As a Mexican, it fills me with pride to know that for the third time we will be local. No other country in the world can say that. Only Mexico,” said Balat.

The executive emphasized that, 100 days before the start of the tournament, the arrival of the trophy in the country represents a message of national strength.
“Mexico is a country that knows how to stand up. It is a country that knows how to organize itself and that knows how to show the world its dignity and strength”.
“And today that message is going around the world. That’s why it’s so significant that today the trophy arrives from Guadalajara,” he said.
He explained that the trophy tour – the largest ever organized in Mexico, he said – will tour 10 cities with free access.
This “will allow thousands of people to get close to the trophy that represents the dreams of world soccer, but also the dreams of all the girls and boys who practice this beautiful sport”.
Mexico will host 13 games of the 2026 World Cup in Mexico City, Guadalajara (west) and Monterrey (north).
Sheinbaum has stressed that FIFA president Gianni Infantino assured her that the 2026 World Cup would be held in Mexico.
Despite the situation of violence in the country, especially after the killing of the leader of the Jalisco Cartel – New Generation (CJNG), Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, known as ‘El Mencho’, on February 22.
